Bengal Backer Meeting Minutes Feb. 2018

In attendance: Karin Duprey, Janine Lairmore, Sean Hagburg, Jen Wasson, Peter Donnelly,

I.       Center for Resilience & Hooton Foundation

A motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting was made and approved. Karin began the meeting with an update on the center for resilience.  Despite hopes to have the parent’s session on the same date as the student presentation, the March 7^th date was not added to the calendar and will need to be rescheduled.  The student presentation will take place during advisory.  The location has yet to be determined.

Due to multiple scheduling conflicts, it is unlikely that the Hooton Foundation will be offered this year and we will plan to organize this event for a fall presentation.

II.     Financial Update

Membership presented the BB with an updated treasures report and expenditure list. This report reflected the concession and membership revenue.

III.    Athletic Requests

No requests at this time.

IV.    Concessions

The concessions have been a strong source of revenue.  The recent MS championship generated a lot of sales, but there at this time BVA is not sure if they will have these games at the school in the future.  A suggestion was made to review the calendar for events and add stock when we expect larger than normal crowds so that we can meet the increase in demand.  Karin asked for an update on the volunteer letter as it is approved.  Jen suggested that she email Sarah for an update.

V.      Scoreboard Update.

Jen spoke to  “sight & signs” regarding scoreboard updating/wrapping.  The company does not recommend a wrap as it will not adhere to the material of the sign. Peter suggested we see if we can possibly rivet or weld a new wrap.  Jen suggested we speak to a couple of parents for assistance.

VI.    Marketing/Membership

There has been a lack of involvement from our parents.  The BB will reach out to other parents whom they feel would be potential members and/or board members to encourage attendance at the next meeting.  The BB discussed the need for new parents to take over existing BB board member positions.

Accepted Student night is March 7.  The BB will work to have BB info flyers put into the school info packs that are given out to students and parents.
